VYPE: Brylee, what position are you playing this year as a senior and when did you get your start in the sport?
Brylee Scott: I am a post. I started playing basketball when I was in the 6th grade.
VYPE: Since the 6 th grade, do you have a favorite memory that stands out?
BS: My favorite memory of basketball is all the funny moments on the bus rides and in the locker room before games. This is the time where we would spill gossip, do each other’s hair, make funny TikTok’s and jam out to music.
VYPE: What would you say is a strength of your game?
BS: My strength would be I’m a physical mess but also having good sportsmanship while doing so.
VYPE: Best thing about being a student-athlete at Newcastle HS?
BS: NHS is growing and allowing a lot of new players into every sport. I’ve meet so many new friends that’s have taught me many lessons.
VYPE: Which teammates have impressed you so far this season?
BS: This year many of our girls have improved so much and have gain more confidence in their game. Reagan Greeroyd has gained her confidence on defense and has lots of steals throughout all games. Emerson Marble has grown so much since her freshman year and works after hours on her shots and dribbling and is every passionate about the sport. They are both players many strive to be better, and I admire them for their passion and confidence.
VYPE: Who keeps everyone laughing?
BS: The funniest player on the team would have to be Ava Snider. She blurts out the funniest stuff at random times and does crazy things. I don’t think I’ve ever left the gym without her making me laugh.
VYPE: How do you mentally prepare yourself for competition?
BS: I prepare myself for competition by listening to music and getting my mindset into the thought process of leaving everything on the floor because you’ll never know when it’ll be the last time.
VYPE: What do you love most about your team and teammates? What other sports are you playing?
BS: What I love about the team is our connection. Even though we have many new girls, we are all close together and are a family no matter what. I do play soccer and throw shotput in track, which I just started both my junior year.
VYPE: What is the goal for life after high school?
BS: My goal after high school is to go into nursing and mostly likely get my CRNA after. I would also like to travel the world and meet new people.
