Newcastle’s Jackson Schanuel – Football Spotlight – Presented by Eric Ledoux State Farm Insurance

When it comes to multi-sport athletes, Jackson Schanuel, a senior at Newcastle High School, stands out as a primeexample of dedication and versatility. Jackson has cultivated a love for football since his middle school years. “I started playing football when I was in seventh grade at Newcastle Middle School. I always played baseball and wanted to try another sport.”

Jackson’s inspiration to play football stemmed from watching those above him. “Watching college and professional football, I always liked the game and wanted to play.” This passion has fueled his journey through the ranks to become a key player for Newcastle High School, where he serves as both quarterback and linebacker.

Jackson’s ambitions for the season are clear and focused. “To win a state championship and to be a strong team now entering Class 5A. To be a leader on my team and build team chemistry.”

Overcoming adversity has been a significant part of Jackson’s journey. “Overcoming a shoulder injury and being unable to play in a big rival game” was one of his most challenging moments. He acknowledges that injuries have been an obstacle, but his perseverance has seen him through.

Community support plays a pivotal role in Jackson’s motivation. “Having community support keeps us fired up, wanting to play harder and win for our community.”

To younger aspiring football players, Jackson’s advice is straightforward: “Keep working hard, do the extra work when it’s not required!” He looks up to his coaches for their on-field guidance and his parents for their unwavering support off the field. “On the field, my coaches show me support and teach me the game. Off the field, my parents because they work hard, and they support me.”

Outside of football, Jackson enjoys playing the guitar, video games and hanging out with friends. His gratitude is evident as he acknowledges those who have supported him throughout his journey. “My mom – she supports me and shows up for me and my sports.”

As Jackson Schanuel prepares to lead Newcastle High School in his senior year, his story of resilience, hard work and community spirit continues to inspire those around him.
