Cadence Howard is a senior at Newcastle High School and a member of the pom squad. Howard has been active in cheer and dance for a number of years and decided to join the Racers Pom Squad this year and has been having a great time with the new opportunity.
“I’ve been dancing at Footworks Performance Arts Studio for 14 years so it just felt right when I heard about Newcastle having a Pom Squad for the first time ever my senior year!” Howard said.
Howard has been able to apply her skills from years of training to pom and knows what it takes to be successful.
“You need to have confidence in yourself and your team,” Howard said. “Determination to achieve your goals, sharpness, and team management skills. I’ve learned that it takes patience with your team and faith in the coaches and your teammates to be successful.”
In her first year with the new Newcastle Pom Squad Howard and her teammates have already achieved some success.
“My favorite memory with the Pom Squad is when we had UDA Camp and got 3/3 ribbons and got a bid to go to Nationals,” Howard said.
Outside of Pom Howard has also found success in the classroom and running with the cross country team where she and the Racers made the state competition in Oklahoma City.
As the year continues on Howard is looking forward to basketball season and getting to rally the fans from the sidelines. After high school Howard said her dream is to own a nutrition club and eventually open her own workout and dance studio.
