Newcastle Cheer Preview – Presented by RibCrib

Stacy Wright and the Newcastle cheer squad consistently exceed expectations and have a chance to be one of the top programs in the state this season. A trip to the state cheer competition last year has the squad fired up and ready to compete in 2022. Coach Wright said the team is loaded and ready.

“We have a total of 35 cheerleaders which include varsity and junior varsity. We have been working hard all summer and are looking forward to the upcoming season,” said Wright. Scotty Banfield does both All Star cheer and high school cheer. Coach Wright said she is an elite tumbler and stunting athlete.

“She is a great leader that gives 100 percent, 100 percent of the time,” said Wright.

Banfield isn’t the only athlete on the team with great stunting and tumbling abilities. Kaileigh Knight is an excellent all-around cheerleader and a hard worker.

“Knight stunts, tumbles, jumps, and is a great leader. She shows up to practice and works hard the entire time,” said Wright.

The senior class this season includes Banfield, Knight, Addison Conner, Marisa Moring, Reagan Elliott, Carmen Rodriguez, Cayden Singleteary, Mckynlee Mack, Chloe Hodge, and Lauren Miller.
